1. Stumbling is Not Falling

You return to consciousness slowly, a strange and unpleasant feeling gnawing in the pit of your belly. It’s more sinister than hunger but just as insistent. 2. It Would Be My Pleasure

It rang out over the loudspeaker. “Would Virgin passenger Marcus Webber please come to the customer service desk at Gate 37B. That’s Marcus Webber to Gate 37B.” Inevitably, all eyes turned to look for the person whose name was just called. I could already feel the stares.

  3. Intercontinental Lover

“Please remain seated and store your trays in an upright position during landing,” said Catherine Wade, speaking into the microphone while looking out onto the full cabin of people. “We would like to thank you for flying with Intercontinental Airways today and hope you enjoy your stay in London.“ I know I will, she thought to herself.

  4. The Spell of the Mountain Demon

My breath came in frosty dragon puffs as I followed the winding trail away from the inn, alone. In Osaka there were already signs of spring, but winter lingered here, as if time moved slower in this silent, majestic place.
