Our Team:
Leigh Oslen: Founder, Editorial Team, Marketing
In her daytime role as a communications and marketing pro, Leigh fights with words on a daily basis. By night, it’s more of a loving relationship. With sixteen hard years of writer’s block behind her, Leigh has most recently penned stories she has yet to share with her mother. (UPDATE: Mom has now read Leigh’s contribution to the Fall 2012 issue of Pique. Ehrm!) Before that, she lived for a time in wild North of England while she earned a Masters in Creative Writing. Exploring erotica and sensual writing has not only kicked her writer’s block to the curb, it has set Leigh on this unexpected adventure of launching Pique with Lee Ransom, her friend these many years.
Lee Ransom: Founder, Editorial Team
When Lee first confessed to some of her girlfriends that she wrote…well…naughty stories, their reaction was a tad unnerving. “Oh, of course you do. You would!” More than a little incensed, she took her secret to her dear friend Leigh Oslen, sure that at least she would have the decency to be surprised. Instead, Leigh barked out her trademark laugh, flushed a darling shade of crimson, and then asked to read the lot of it. Fine. Be that way. A besotted writer from the first moment she began pouring her 9-year-old romantic fantasies into a heart-bespeckeled diary, Lee has worked the requist communications gigs and penned her fair share of hyberbolic marketing twadle. But now she’s back where she started. Only this time, she’s giving away the key to the diary.
Alexandra Santander: Tumblr’r, Editorial Team
Alexandra Santander has a prim and proper day job on the periphery of the legal-political world in Washington. Her evenings are spent running a kinky photo blog on tumblr (and sometimes actually doing other kinky stuff). She is an avid reader and occasional writer of erotic fiction. In addition to being a member of the Pique editorial team, Alexandra also contributes to piqueyour.tumblr.com.
Ruby Theron: Real Life Sex columnist
Ruby Theron is a thrice-married mother of two living in the DC metro area. She has a full-time gig as COO for a small nonprofit, and she teaches four Zumba classes a week in her copious free time. Ruby’s degree is in applied anthropology, which may in part explain her continual fascination with the role of sex in different cultures … especially her own. Having led a fairly promiscuous and adventurous lifestyle (by US cultural standards), her friends (ie, the editors of Pique) consider her somewhat of an authority on sex.
Mr. X: Token Male, Editorial Team
Meetings, memos and strategic briefs swallow up most of Mister X’s creative juices by day, yet in the first precious hour of each morning he still fancies himself a writer. By nightfall, he knows he’ll be slump-shouldered and sour, fatigued by the drudgery of one inane task after another. So, reading the raciest fantasies and naughty scribblings of good friends and freelancers is a sweet release for Mr. X, and he’s tickled to take on the job.
